Lady GaGa and the Sociology of Fame, The College Course

Posted on October 30, 2010 by

It was reported by The New York Times that The University of South Carolina would offer a new full-time course next semester, Lady GaGa and the Sociology of Fame.

The course will be taught by Associate Professor of Sociology and self-confirmed Lady Gaga super fan Mathieu Deflem who even runs his own fan site, has seen Gaga live 30 times and met her 5 times.

The course centers on Delfem’s intrigue with the 24-year-old’s global fame and the definition of fame in today’s popular culture. “The central objective is to unravel some of the sociologically relevant dimensions of the fame of Lady GaGa,” the course description reads.
