After 448,000 sales in its first three days of digital sale, “Born This Way” by Lady GaGa has managed to become the 1,000th song to reach number 1 in Billboard Hot 100 history. With this feat, Lady GaGa has become the largest selling female artist to have a song reach number 1 in its first week of sales. Lady GaGa spoke to Billboard about the milestone, saying:

“It is a tremendous honor, to be the 1000th no. 1 on Billboard…I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career. I am so humbled and so honored and overwhelmed by the reception to ‘Born This Way,’ it has been so life changing for me as an artist, and between Billboard and the international number ones and the radio numbers…I couldn’t be more blessed to have the fans that I have.”

“Born This Way” has also managed to nab the highest opening airplay figure in history since all formats of radio were counted from December 1998. It begins at number 6 in the chart, with an audience of 78.5 million.

The song is also set to debut at number 1 in the UK Top 40 this upcoming Sunday, with the mid-week charts showing that “Born This Way” is already in the lead with its sales this week.
