Google goes GaGa: The Interview

Posted on March 22, 2011 by

Lady GaGa was interviewed earlier today by Google, and she answered the questions that little monsters have been submitting for the last two weeks!

GaGa discussed the new album, describing it as “avant-garde techno rock”. She also spoke about some songs on the album, including “Edge of Glory” which she confirmed was written after her grandfather’s death five months ago.

This song is truly one of my favourites. It’s kind of a sad story, sorry to be a downer, but my grandpa died about 5 months ago and my dad and I were going to say goodbye to him at the hospice and I got out a big thing of Agavero tequila and my dad sat next to me at the piano and we just started doing shots back and forth and I wrote ‘The Edge of Glory’ on the piano and my dad and I cried.

The song is about your last moment on earth, the moment of truth, the edge of glory is that moment right before you leave the earth.

That song can be played on the piano but it’s actually set to this giant-huge-techno-rock Springsteen-esque dance beat. It’s FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.

Lady GaGa also announced that she would be making her directorial debut, and is now the director for the music video for her next single “Judas”, alongside her creative director Laurieann Gibson. She also revealed some new lyrics from the song

When he comes to me I am ready
I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times he betrays me

I’ll bring him down
A king with no crown
