Lady GaGa tops magazine sales

With five Grammy award nominations, a spot on Time’s 100 most influential people of the year list, and eight MTV Video Music Awards in the past 12 months, Lady Gaga had a wildly successful 2010.  One more accolade that the “Fame Monster” can add to her resume is an undisputed spot atop the 2010 print throne.  According to WWD, an Audit Bureau of Circulations report reveals that Gaga-centric issues sold better than any other celeb and the trend is not expected to slow down in 2011.

Lady Gaga’s July 8 Rolling Stone double issue sold 245,000 copies, nearly three times above the title’s January-September 2010 average.

Gaga’s April 2010 Cosmopolitan was a major hit as well, selling 1.7 million copies and making its mark as the magazine’s leading issue through October.

Lady Gaga was responsible for the year’s second most successful issue of Vanity Fair as her September cover sold 450,000 copies and trailed only Angelina Jolie’s cover.

She also opened 2010 with a bang by appearing in the January issue of Elle, one which held up as their third highest seller through October.

Lady Gaga is expected to appear on the cover of Vogue’s March issue and is certainly the most sought after interview in the new year.

Lady Gaga named one of the top celebrity activists

Lady Gaga has made the list in PoliticsDaily’s top 5 celebrity activists

Lady Gaga: The pop superstar dipped her toe into celebrity activism in 2009 when she appeared at the National Equality March in Washington. But in 2010, Lady Gaga chose full-body immersion. She took on “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” and encouraged her “Little Monster” fans to make a ruckus by calling elected officials and asking them to repeal the law. For many Millennials, Lady Gaga’s call to action was the first time they realized that they could even call a senator.

The fashion diva, who took heat from PETA for a costume made from meat, also lambasted Arizona’s immigration law and took on the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church when the hate group protested her St. Louis concert. Her solution: Embrace them with love and peace.
How did she motivate her fans to action? Via Facebook and Twitter. Lady Gaga rules social media with more followers and fans than any politician, including President Barack Obama.

Expect the 25-year-old Lady Gaga to continue her fight for GLBT rights in 2011 as her third studio album will be called “Born This Way.”

John Lennon “would have loved Lady GaGa”

According to Yoko Ono, John Lennon would have been a fan of Lady GaGa.

The widow of the late Beatles star believes the Imagine hitmaker would have “loved” the work of the Alejandro singer, if he was still alive today.
“I think she’s wonderful,” Yoko said of GaGa. “John would have loved her. Because she’s an artist, she’s fearless and she pushes every limit, which we both always adored.

“She has played on John’s white piano and I think that’s wonderful,” Ono said, before going on to compliment the star’s butt.

“Lady Gaga has a very pretty bottom,” she told the Daily Mail. “She performed with me on stage wearing a see-through lace catsuit and people thought it was an insult because you could see her bottom.

“I’m the lady who did an exhibition of bottoms. How could hers offend me?”
