Lady Gaga shares her love for Hip Hop music
Describing her as “the lady at the center of fashion and pop culture,” marketing wiz Steve Stoute interviews Lady Gaga for his “Tanning Effect” series with a focus on her relevance to hip-hop.
Lady Gaga on her hip-hop influences
I think it was always the lifestyle of hip-hop, the sort-of celebration of decadence is the cherry on top of success. After you eat shit in the industry for so long, once you make it to the top you bring all of your friends with you and you celebrate. That was always my favorite thing about my favorite hip-hop artists. In fact, it influenced me so much that when I would be interviewed early on in my career about my success; and I would be so confident about it, so forthright about it—people would say, “Well, she’s this female pop singer. She’s from New York. She’s [22 years old]. Why is she talking like that?” But I was raised through music watching and idolizing these people that come from the streets or worked from the ground up. I thought, “Well, if you really worked for it—which I did—you should emulate that sort of gratitude

Lady Gaga covers ELLE UK January 2012
Claiming yet another year-beginning cover all to herself, Lady Gaga landed the front page of the January 2012 issue of ELLE UK.
Hitting newsstands on November 30th, the Lady Gaga showed off her unique taste while posing for photographer Matt Irwin in a range of ensembles including an embroidered organza dress by Alexander McQueen, a silk-tulle dress by Simone Rocha and a silk organza dress by Richard Nicoll.
Highlights from Gaga’s interview – in which she dishes about her skincare secrets (orgasms and spinach), her famously devoted fans and her love of fashion – are as follows. For more, be sure to visit ELLE UK!
On her low points:
“I had abusive relationships: I dated men much older than me – I was 15, they were 30 – which I don’t recommend. I was never brave enough to be the person who I am today.”
On her fans:
“My fans don’t care what I am, that’s what I like about them. They don’t care if I’m a boy or a girl or an in-between or a phoenix or a mermaid or a unicorn. They don’t care.”
On how she got here:
“I don’t regret anything. If I’d known things back then I wouldn’t be where I am now, because so much of who I am is based on a lack of fear. I have no fear.”
On how she’d like to be remembered:
“Many people really don’t like what I do – or how I sing or what music I make – but some of those people admire the commitment to the work. That to me is more important than anything.”

Lady GaGa thanks schoolboy for anti-bullying efforts
Lady GaGa has thanked a Canadian schoolboy for his anti-bullying efforts – with a personalised video email.
Lady GaGa personally emailed Jacques St Pierre, 17, after he organised a school assembly with an anti-bullying theme at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto.
He sent out dozens of emails to celebrities asking for their support and was shocked to get a personal response from the lady herself.
She said on the message:
I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for being such a strong advocate of the LGBT community in your school. There should be more little monsters like you.
St Pierre told a local TV show:
I got called the gay kid, the fag, because I liked to be in the school plays. I lost my best friend because he joined in with the bullies. It’s not fun, I’ve been there, I’ve been bullied. Before that, I didn’t know bullying could affect people so severely. No questions asked, Lady GaGa sent us a video. I watched it, and I started crying. I’m a huge fan. It’s kind of embarrassing because I love her so much. I couldn’t believe it.
