LADY GAGA TOPS BILLBOARD’S DANCE/ELECTRONIC ALBUM CHART

Lady GaGa has topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic album chart with “The Remix” album claiming the number one spot. Sitting at the number two spot is “The Fame” which has been on the chart for 93 weeks. “The Fame Monster” which has been on the chart for 37 weeks comes third on the chart.

Lady GaGa still holds the record for the most weeks spent at number one on the chart, with her albums holding a combined seventy nine weeks at number one on the chart.

This is amazing, all of the three albums have peaked at the number one spot on the chart! Lady GaGa is dominating the genre, don’t you think?!

L.A GOES GAGA OVER LADY GAGA

Her very catchy music and her very out-there costumes make Lady Gaga not only a popular artist, but she has a profitable concert tour in a year where many tours are being cut short due to lack of money, interest or both.

Wednesday and Thursday, night Gaga fans will gather at Staples the center of the Gaga universe, to see the pop star sing, dance, and show off some of her trade-mark costumes.

Gaga’s got ‘em where she wants ‘em, going gaga for the lady.

She has been discounted as a Madonna knock off, and the undeniable influence of Ms. Ciccione is everywhere. From Gaga’s style to her sound. From her androgynous videomates to her overt sexuality. From her sultry dead stare, to dead on video stories. There is a reason Gaga is more than the artist’s name. Its where her fans go at the mere mention of her.

“She inspires me to be myself and not care what other people think of me,” says Koby Otsuka, a Lady Gaga Fan.

At 24, Lady Gaga, who’s real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is in the top 100 artists of the decade according to Billboard. One of the top 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time magazine. And not only one of the most powerful and influential celebrities, but number four on that list compiled by Forbes, which also deemed her the second most powerful musician in the world.

“She’s amazing. She inspires me. I’m actually really into fashion and she is one of my inspirations,” according to Anna Renteria, a Lady Gaga fan.

“It’s seriously like a disease, or like an obsession. It’s like something you can’t control, it just happens,” according to Jonathan Knuth, a Lady Gaga fan. “I found it like my responsibility to make sure that I infect everyone.”
If her music has a familiar sound, fun and playful, but not groundbreaking, her fashion steps forward at warp speed. So out there it begs to be duplicated.

Again, not since Madonna, have fans tried so hard to flatter by imitation.

“I’m totally sucked in. I’m a Gagaholic,” says Olivia Richards, a Lady Gaga fan.

They worship at the alter of fabulous.

LADY GAGA’S PUBLICIST DENIES MOVIE REPORTS

The reports that Lady Gaga was going to star in a movie about herself have been summarily dismissed by her PR agent. The PR person simply said, “It’s not true.” We have heard that one before, but given Gaga’s busy schedule and her status as the world’s biggest pop star, she might not even have time to make a movie, whether it’s about herself or another topic.

Would you like to see Gaga transition to films and star in them? Would you want to see a Gaga biopic or some sort of cinematic endeavor about her?

LADY GAGA EARNS RECORD BREAKING 13 VMA NOMINATIONS

Lady Gaga isn’t just smashing records on the pop charts, she’s also making awards-show history.
The Grammy-winning singer, 24, scored 13 MTV Video Music Award nominations Tuesday – the most ever received by any artist in a single year. The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. EST.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” says Gaga. “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13.”

She adds: “A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”

Among the lucky 13 nominations: best pop video, best dance music video, best female video and best choreography for her hit single, “Bad Romance.”

The megastar is also up for best collaboration for “Telephone” featuring Beyonce.

Gaga’s toughest competition? Possibly herself. “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” are both in the running for best choreography and video of the year.

LADY GAGA TALKS SEX, FAME, DRUGS AND LITTLE MONSTERS

lady-gaga-vanityfair.jpg

Lady Gaga tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Lisa Robinson that she tries to avoid having sex because she is afraid of depleting her creative energy—“I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they’re going to take my creativity from me through my vagina.”

She also says that she doesn’t trust anybody and doesn’t know if she ever will. Gaga tells Robinson, “I’m perpetually lonely. I’m lonely when I’m in relationships. It’s my condition as an artist.” Regarding men, she says, “I’m drawn to bad romances. And my song [“Bad Romance”] is about whether I go after those [sort of relationships] or if they find me. I’m quite celibate now; I don’t really get time to meet anyone.”

Gaga talks candidly about her drug use and recalls her ultimate low point: “I was completely mental and had just been through so much.” She had been using drugs, and is quick to tell Robinson that, if she writes about that incident, “I do not want my fans to ever emulate that or be that way. I don’t want my fans to think they have to be that way to be great. It’s in the past. It was a low point, and it led to disaster.”

Instead of rehab, though, when disaster struck, Gaga “went home.” She tells Robinson, “All I will say is I hit rock bottom, and it was enough to send a person over the edge. My mother knew the truth about that day, and she screamed so loud on the other end of the phone, I’ll never forget it. And she said, ‘I’m coming to get you.’” Gaga says they went to her 82-year-old grandmother’s house in West Virginia. “I cried. I told her I thought my life was over and I have no hope and I’ve worked so hard, and I knew I was good. What would I do now? And she said, ‘I’m gonna let you cry for a few more hours. And then after those few hours are up, you’re gonna stop crying, you’re gonna pick yourself up, you’re gonna go back to New York, and you’re gonna kick some ass.’”

Gaga also responds to the brouhaha surrounding her appearance at the Yankees game, and what she wore to her sister’s graduation; shows Robinson the contents of her bag; explains her devotion to her Little Monsters; and more.

The September issue of Vanity Fair will be available on newsstands in New York and L.A. on Wednesday, August 4, and nationally and on the iPad on Tuesday, August 10.
