The Recording Academy has altered their Grammy qualifications after Lady Gaga was left out of Best New Artist category last year due to a technicality.

According to the old rules, nominees for the Best New Artist award could not have appeared on another Grammy-nominated recording. Gaga was therefor disqualified as her first single, “Just Dance,” was nominated for Best Dance Recording in 2008.

The Zac Brown Band moved in to snag the prize.

A Recording Academy spokesperson released a statement saying: “More and more, the first release of a new artist is as a featured artist on someone else’s album, or the new artist may release a single long before the release of [their] first album.”

The new rules suggest that any new artist will be eligible to win, except for those who have already released albums or have already won a Grammy.

Lady Gaga’s manager Svengali Troy Carter insists that the singer’s phenomenal success is the result of pure hard work.

Carter says his eccentric client has set an example of how hard work and hits can turn an expectant into a somebody, and he fears too many current acts break into the big time too quickly and fade out just as fast.

“She (Gaga) has put in the work. She has really put in the work. This was years in the making. Gaga has a work ethic. Gaga hustles. She understands all of that,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling CelebrityAccess.com.

“One of the problems now is that we have a very lazy business. People are lazy. That girl gets out there. When we first started I didn’t know anything about pop music and she didn’t know anything about touring or anything like that.

“You can’t skip a step. People take the discovery process for granted. Fans want to feel like they have discovered you, and part of that discovery process is having the patience to start small,” he added. (ANI)

Lady GaGa is to release her remix album in the US.

The record – titled The Remix – has been available in Europe for some time (it has already sold 500,000 copies) and includes reworkings of ten songs found on both The Fame and The Fame Monster records.
But soon American fans will be able to purchase the companion album, when it goes on sale on August 3.

The Remix includes versions of Alejandro, Bad Romance, Just Dance, LoveGame, Paparazzi, Poker Face and Telephone.

Lady Gaga thrust her insecurities into the spotlight over the weekend when she revealed to a sold-out crowd at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa-sponsored show in Atlantic City that she still struggles with a number of personal battles.

The sensational pop star is well known for nurturing a close connection with her fans — or “Monsters” as she calls them — but her interaction with the audience at the Boardwalk Hall on July 4 made for the most compelling part of the night, which featured stunning sets and avant garde costumes.

“You know I didn’t have a lot of friends in high school,” Gaga shared. “They made fun of me. I just felt like a freak. You know what I told them? That I was going to be a star. A huge star.”
By the fans’ screams of adoration it seems like Gaga has fulfilled that prophecy. But even in light of selling out the venue, staggering record sales and having the most fans on Facebook (more than President Obama), Gaga still looked to her followers for approval.

“Do you think I am sexy? I’m severely unconfident in myself so I kind of abuse this part of the show. So do you think I’m sexy?”
Later in the show Mother Monster added, “I’m kind of like Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. If you don’t scream and clap for me I’ll die.”
If the young singer is truly self conscious it didn’t seem to effect her strut on stage performing her radio hits like “Paparazzi,” “Just Dance,” and the closer “Bad Romance.”

After professing her love for the excited Jersey crowd Gaga also acknowledged that her favorite city to party in was but a few hours away.

“There’s club in New York that I went to with a bunch of freaks,” she said. She also mentioned the Manhattan mixology hot spot Death & Co. during a song written about a guy who would rather drink there than spend time with her.

After the show Ms. Gaga returned to the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa to spend time with a number of friends and family that attended the show. At the Borgata she chose to keep the night low key by betting at the Blackjack tables while her friend Perez Hilton hosted a party in her honor with DJ Steve Aoki at MIXX not too far away.

Lady GaGa holds the record for “Most weeks on the UK album chart” in the upcoming 2011 Guinness Book of World Records, out on September 15, 2010.

Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears has revealed that he is proud to have inspired Lady GaGa.

Shears told US Weekly that he thinks the ‘Alejandro’ singer is “fabulous”.

“Lady GaGa has always cited us as a major influence and one of her favourite bands, and if we inspired her than that makes me really proud,” he said.

“She’s opened up loads of people’s minds to different styles and made so many fans that are going to discover this band who wouldn’t normally necessarily have ever noticed us in the first place.”
